Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani says consultations were held with Iran ahead of the ongoing Russian airstrikes against the positions of foreign-sponsored Takfiri terrorists in Syria.
“It is early to judge Russia’s attacks on terrorists’ positions in Syria. Of course, consultations were already held with Iran about a coalition to fight terrorists,” Larijani said in a joint press conference with Marshal of Poland’s Senate Bogdan Borusewicz in Tehran on Saturday.
He added that the air raids have been carried out with precision so far.
Russia began its military campaign against terrorists in Syria on September 30 upon a request from the Damascus government shortly after the upper house of the Russian parliament gave President Vladimir Putin the mandate to use military force in Syria.
Russian air force jet fighters have reportedly destroyed numerous vehicles, command posts, communication centers, fuel and ammunition depots, plants used for making bombs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), as well as several training camps, all used by ISIL.
For his part, Borusewicz said ISIL is a criminal group and added that he held very constructive and fruitful talks with the Iranian Majlis speaker about ways to fight the terrorists.
He added that only countries in the Middle East should find solutions to the ongoing crises in the region.
He emphasized that ground should be prepared for an agreement among all political movements in Syria.
