According to the state-run National News Agency, the army targeted positions controlled by gunmen in Wadi el-Kheil near Tallat al-Qarn.

A number of militant vehicles were destroyed in the army shelling, which killed and inflicted heavy losses for the gunmen, NNA reported.

The wounded were transferred to a field hospital in Wadi Hmayyed and Wadi al-Kheil, it added.

Terrorist militants have been entrenched in the mountains surrounding Arsal since August 2014 when they fought a deadly battle with the army.
