Head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran Parliament Alaeddin Boroujerdi stressed his country will continue its full military, political, and economic support for the Syrian national government.
During a press conference in Damascus on Thursday, the Iranian official highlighted the need for all-out cooperation from all involved sides in the fight against terrorism in reference to the formation of a new coalition with the participation of Iran, Russia, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon's resistant forces to settle the Syrian crisis.
Boroujerdi arrived in the Syrian capital on Wednesday to hold talks with Syrian senior officials.
Upon his arrival at Damascus Airport, Boroujerdi told reporters the aim of his visit is to reiterate the Islamic Republic’s support for the Syrian government as a resistance front against the “Zionist regime.”
During the three-day visit, the Iranian senior official is scheduled to hold meetings with Syrian President Bashar Assad, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.
Boroujerdi and his delegation will discuss regional developments particularly the Syrian situation during the scheduled meetings.
