During a press conference he held in Tehran, Alawi said a number of terrorist schemes were also discovered during the Hijri month of Muharram [between October 14 and November 12, 2015].
According to the minister, 14 of the agents involved in terrorist attacks in Safiabad in the southwestern city of Dezful as well as another 10 in east of the country were also identified and arrested.
The terrorists in east of the country were active in Golestan, Mazandaran, Tehran and Sistan-Baluchestan provinces, the minister added.
In the terrorist incident in the city of Dezful, two people were killed when they were attending a religious ceremony on the occasion of martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PbUH). Two others were wounded.
Alawi also noted that members of the terrorist units which were responsible for the armed attack against the governor’s office in the city of Susangerd in the southeastern province of Khuzestan were arrested. He said they were supported by certain regional backward countries.
