UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmed arrived in Tehran Wednesday morning.

The UN envoy is slated to hold talks with Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on the latest Yemen developments, IRNA news agency reported.

He arrived in Tehran on the fourth leg of his regional tour which brought him to Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman.

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

According to the latest reports, the Saudi aggression has claimed the lives of more than 7,000 people so far, while a total of nearly 14,000 people have also been injured.
