Jewish American Jonathan Pollard was released on Friday from nearly 30 years in prison for passing US secrets to the Zionist entity, in a move swiftly welcomed by the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Pollard, arrested in 1985, was a navy civilian intelligence analyst with access to some important secrets of the US. He started passing those secrets to the Israeli operative, receiving monthly cash payments.
The move comes as point to restart a so-called middle east peace process.
Barbara Starr, a CNN correspondent to the Pentagon said that Pollard has been serving a life sentence for spying for "Israel," describing the case as being one of the most contentious espionage cases in the US history, because the Zionist entity is a close ally and has demanded Pollard to come back for years.
