An Israeli foot patrol has crossed into Lebanon in clear violation of the country's sovereignty and a UN Security Council resolution.
The infantry unit crossed the Blue Line into Lebanon near the town of Kfar Shouba at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday and advanced to within 150 meters of the west Al-Sammaka village, according to the National News Agency.
The infantry unit, made up of 12 soldiers, returned to the occupied Palestinian territory side of the border after 30 minutes, the NNA said.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Lebanese army said the incident went too far in violating the international law 1701 and violates the Lebanese sovereignty.
Earlier this month, Beirut submitted a complaint to the United Nations Security Council over Israel's violation of the country's sovereignty.
The move came after an Israeli army convoy crossed the border and entered the Wazzani area in southern Lebanon, which led to clashes with the Lebanese army.
