Iran has invited Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi to attend a conference on Palestine in Tehran
Iran has invited Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi to attend a conference on Palestine in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The invitation by Iranian Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani was handed to Kharafi by senior Iranian lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Wednesday, IRNA reported.
Boroujerdi described the Fifth Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada, scheduled for October 1-2, as a significant international event considering the recent developments in the region.
“This conference is regarded a suitable opportunity for discussion and consultation of the countries in the region,” he stated.
The Kuwaiti and Iranian parliamentarians further discussed the recent developments in North Africa and the Middle East.
On the unrest in Syria, Boroujerdi pointed out that the United States is after thrashing the core of resistance in the region through orchestrating violence in Syria after losing its firsthand Middle East allies in Egypt.
The US attempts to return the equation of power in the region is futile and the countries in the region must exercise vigilance to foil the US schemes, he added.
The head of Iran's Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee highlighted how the Islamic Republic valued expanding ties with its neighbors, especially Kuwait, as Tehran's strategic policy.
