A Palestinian man was martyred on Thursday as the Israeli forces shot him when he was attempting a knife attack against the occupation soldiers.
During routine security activity in Hawwara, forces spotted a suspect and approached in order to question him," the occupation army said in a statement of the incident near Nablus in an area where Israeli settlers and Palestinians cross a military checkpoint.
It said the man ran towards the soldiers, who opened fire, "resulting in his death."
Palestinian security sources said Israeli authorities had taken the body of the attacker, whose identity and age were not yet provided.
The occupied territories have been rocked by a wave of attacks against Zionists in retaliation of the Israeli repressive measures against the Palestinians across the West Bank and especially in al-Quds. Zionist settlers backed by occupation forces have been repeatedly storming the holy al-Aqsa Mosque, sparking Palestinian anger.
Violence since the start of October has killed 120 on the Palestinian side and 17 Israelis.
