Iran Rejects US Claims on Rocket Test in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has dismissed US claims of a rocket test near American warships in the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has dismissed US claims of a rocket test near American warships in the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

"The Guards' naval force had no exercise in the past week when the Americans claim that a missile or rocket was fired in the Hormuz Strait area," head of the IRGC’s public relations office Brig. Gen. Ramezan Sharif said on Thursday.head of the IRGC’s public relations office Brig. Gen. Ramezan Sharif

The rebuttal came a day after the US accused Iran of launching a "highly provocative" rocket test last week near its warships and commercial traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Cmdr. Kyle Raines, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, said in a statement that Iranian Revolutionary Guard naval vessels fired "several unguided rockets" about 1,500 yards from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, the USS Bulkeley destroyer and a French frigate, the FS Provence.
