Salam Arrives in Davos after Meeting Head of European Council in Brussels

Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, has left Brussels on Thursday and arrived in Davos to partake in the World Economic Forum.

In Brussels, Salam met with Head of the European Council, Donald Tusk, along with an accompanying delegation including EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Christina Lassen.

The meeting reportedly touched on the most recent developments at the regional and international scenes.

A statement issued by Tusk's press office said that the meeting with Salam had been an occasion to discuss preparations underway for London conference in support of Syria and the region, due to be held on February 4, 2016.

Moreover, Tusk reiterated the European Union's committed support to Lebanon en route to a sustained solution to the ramifications of the Syrian crisis.

He also lauded Lebanon's dauntless efforts facing extremism and terrorism, pinning great hope on a meeting to be held in Beirut on combating terrorism.

Also, Tusk hailed Salam's efforts running the country amid the rocky political situation it endures.

"We shall pursue joint efforts to bolster the Lebanese-European partnership," the statement read as quoting Tusk's pledge to Lebanon.

Earlier, Salam visited the new office of the Lebanese Embassy in Brussels, where he met with Embassy staff.
