“Revoking nationality everywhere is considered as executing the civil situation of the person. That what happens when the person suddenly becomes with no nationality,” activists said during the conference.

Al-Wasat daily quoted Hadi al-Mousawi, the head of Al-Wefaq's human rights and freedoms department, as saying that the number of people whose nationalities were revoked reached 253.

Mousawi urged the Bahraini authorities to review such rulings, noting that the nationalities were revoked according to a decision by interior minister or a court ruling.

“We can appeal against all these rulings,” Mousawi said, according to the daily.
“There are a lot of those, whose nationalities were revoked, were not accused or even questioned,” Mousawi added, stressing that these people did not commit any crime.
