Hezbollah condemned the attacks that targeted an Iftar Dinner in North Lebanese and resulted in the injury of around four people and later the martyrdom of Sheikh Bassam Al-Mahmoud due to his serious injuries.

The assault occurred on Wednesday the 17th of August, and live witnesses have said that the attackers were members of the Future party, while well-informed sources said that they were the bodyguards of Future party MP Khaled Daher, who are known among the citizens in Akkar for their criminal acts.

Hezbollah’s statement said:

Hezbollah condemns the vicious attack that targeted a Ramadan Iftar dinner in the Ayyat village of Akkar a couple of days ago, and resulted in the martyrdom of Sheikh Bassam Al-Mahmoud after having suffered deep injuries along with other Iftar attendees.

Hezbollah presents its condolences to the family of the martyr Sheikh, hoping that Allah the Exalted provides it with patience and consolations.

Hezbollah deems that this criminal act comes in the context of a programmed, deliberate attempt to cause incitements and increase the level of tension, which serves our country’s enemies and those who work on sowing discord among its people.

Hezbollah further condemns the attack against the Lebanese army and its leadership by some groups who completely lost wisdom and insight after they got out of power, and so they started assailing the Lebanese Army Institution – the fence of the nation – which is the major fortress to sovereign institutions in this nation.
