The Syrian army on Thursday took control of the strategic town of Khanasser in Aleppo southeastern countryside, field sources told al-Manar.

Al-Manar correspondent reported that the Syrian army regained Moghirat town in north of Khanasser and a number of adjacent hills.

The sources said that the control of Khanasser comes following heavy clashes between the Syrian armed forces and Takfiri terrorists of ISIL (so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant) and Nusra Front (Qaeda branch in the Levant).

The Syrian army inflicted heavy losses upon the terrorists, the sources said, noting that many of them were killed an injured.

The Syrian army and allies also controlled Shlala village in Aleppo eastern countryside.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Syrian army seized Rasm al-Nafel town, near Khanasser.

Khanasser is considered a bastion for ISIL Takfiris, because the town is the supply line that links Aleppo to its southern countryside.
