At least two police officers were killed in a car bomb attack in Turkey's southeast on Friday that the authorities blamed on Kurdish rebels, security sources said.
At least 14 people including civilians were also injured in the bombing at a police station in the mainly Kurdish town of Nusaybin on the Syrian border.
Clashes between Kurdish rebels and Turkish forces ensued, according to local security officials, and police set up roadblocks to try to capture the attackers.
The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) claimed a similar attack in January on a police post in Cinar, to the south of the main Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, killing six people.
Violence between the PKK and Turkish forces erupted again last July, scuppering peace talks that began in 2012 aimed at ending a conflict that has claimed 40,000 lives since 1984.
Almost 300 soldiers and police officers have been killed since July, officials say.
