Some 300,000 Palestinians succeeded to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds for last Friday prayers of the holy month of Ramadan
Despite Israeli restrictions, some 300,000 Palestinians succeeded to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds for last Friday prayers of the holy month of Ramadan.
Since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, the Israeli security forces have only allowed Palestinian married men aged 50 and over and women aged 45 and over to enter the Qalandia checkpoint of north Jerusalem.
Thousands of Palestinians prevented from attending the prayers due to strict Israeli measures at the military checkpoint surrounding the occupied city of Jerusalem have clashed with the Israeli army north of al-Quds.
Israeli troops fired tear gas at Palestinians when they began pushing and shoving in attempt to cross the checkpoint into al-Quds.
Muslim officials at the al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites, in the Old City of al-Quds, estimated the number of worshippers at about 300,000 despite the Israeli move. Israeli officials were very concerned about the outcome of the marches planned by Palestinians on Quds Day, which calls for the liberation of Palestine and an end to Israeli occupation.
