Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that Russia's decision to withdraw part of its troops from Syria is "a positive signal for a ceasefire in the country."
During a meeting with Australian counterpart Julie Bishop in Canberra, Zarif said that the fact that the quasi-truce in Syria is welcomed, which was called for by Iran.
Zarif pointed to Iran's role in the cease-fire and the political solution of the Syrian crisis, adding that the excluding ISIL and Al-Nusra Front from the truce means that the international community is united against these terrorist groups.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered yesterday to withdraw the main part of his forces from Syria as of Tuesday's morning. Damascus said the decision was coordinated between President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
