“We are aware of your cooperation in the world communities and believe in expansion of cooperation as much as possible,” IRNA news agency quoted the Leader as saying.

“Courage and resistance of the Vietnamese nation and its outstanding personalities like Ho Chi Minh and Vo Nguyen Giap against foreign aggression have revered your nation in the eyes of Iranian nation and such an appreciation and solidarity is a very suitable ground for growing cooperation,” Imam Khamenei said.

“The interventions are sometimes made through waging such wars as the Vietnam war and sometimes through other means and the only way of confronting the interferences is cooperation and proximity of the independent states with each other,” his eminence told President Truong Tan Sang.
The meeting was attended by President Hasan Rouhani, according to IRNA.

For his part, the Vietnamese President thanked the Supreme Leader for his invaluable speech in praising defense of the people and leaders of Vietnam against foreign aggression and said people of his country have resisted foreign invasion for tens of years, managing to gain independence and freedom.

He thanked Iran for supporting Vietnam in the international fora and said Vietnam has also supported Iran stances in the international circles and considers use of peaceful nuclear energy as Iran's absolute right. Vietnam will continue to support Iran stances in the future as well, he added.
