It is also reported that the operation was carried out with the use of artillery and military helicopters.

According to Egyptian state news agency MENA, the Egyptian army destroyed several terrorists positions in the north of the Sinai Peninsula, killing at least 60 terrorists of ISIL affiliated Ansar al-Maqdis Beit group. The Egyptian agency also added that more than 40 terrorists were also wounded in that attack.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis pledged its allegiance to ISIL in November 2014.
