French Foreign Minister said on Friday his country had a plan to develop contact with Syrian rioters, describing recognition bid of a Palestinian state at the UN as “dangerous”.
"We will develop our contacts with the opposition", Foreign Minister Alain Juppe told a French ambassadors' meeting.
"We will not let up on our efforts to bring an end to the repression and to secure a democratic dialogue”.
On the other hand, the FM said the Palestinian move would risk triggering a dangerous diplomatic confrontation.
"France hopes that they use the occasion for reopening the path to dialogue rather than risking a futile and dangerous diplomatic confrontation”, Juppe added at the annual gathering.
"The 27 countries should speak with one voice," said Juppe ahead of a meeting later Friday of European foreign ministers in Poland which is expected to debate the question.
