Iraqi lawmakers voted Thursday to remove the parliament speaker and his deputies amid a major row over the cabinet lineup that has caused chaos in parliament, a lawmaker and parliamentary officials said.
But the vote, which was held without speaker Salim al-Juburi or his two deputies present, could be challenged on procedural grounds.
Al-Juburi stated that the action of a number of MPs has no legal consequence as PM Haidar Abbadi stressed that the parliamentary row will deactivate the cabinet reshuffle.
