Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Mahmoud Bahmani said here on Sunday that India’s five-billion-dollar debt to the Islamic Republic has been fully paid.
However, speaking to IRNA, he said since Iran's oil export to India is still underway, New Delhi has still unpaid debts to Tehran.
Although the Indian side was interested in paying its debts through swap deals, the request was not accepted by Tehran, Bahmani added.
Iran has never had swap deals with India in order to resolve its oil debts issue, but if Tehran agreed with such a request the deal would be held only on qualitative and its needed goods.
