Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council, Ali Akbar Velayati, described the US action to seize 2 billion dollars of Iran’s frozen assets as an international robbery.
Iran’s senior official made the remarks in Tehran Tuesday while talking to reporters after his meeting with Swiss deputy foreign minister.
“Iran is insistent on safeguarding its rights and will retrieve the money,” he said.
“The action is in contradiction with the American official' remarks. On one hand, they say they are committed to their responsibilities for lifting the sanctions, on the other hand, they create difficulties and put obstacles to legal trade exchange between Iran and other countries.”
Way of confronting the Americans is to resist against their ambitions, said Velayati.
Last Wednesday, the US Supreme Court ruled that 2 billion dollars of Iran's assets had to be turned over to the American families of the people killed in a 1983 bombing in Beirut and other attacks blamed on Iran.
