Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei lashed out at the United States, saying Washington has been resorting to deception to obstruct international trade with Iran despite a nuclear agreement.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei lashed out at the United States, saying Washington has been resorting to deception to obstruct international trade with Iran despite a nuclear agreement.

During a meeting with workers from all over the country on the occasion of Workers Week in Iran, Imam Khamenei said the US keeps sabotaging and acting deceitfully, and then complains at Iranians being pessimistic about it.

“On paper, the Americans say banks can trade with Iran but in practice they act in such an Iranophobic way that no trade can take place with Iran,” the Leader said.

Referring to the recent remarks by some American officials who insisted on maintaining sanctions against Iran, he said they approve of banks transactions with Iran only on paper but in practice endeavor to enhance Islamophobia to stop deals with Iran.

“An American official has said the bulk of sanctions has been maintained so that the investors are scared and do not come here,” Imam Khamenei said.

“The Americans are engaged in obstruction and deception. Then, they claim that we are pessimistic."

Meanwhile, his eminence described the community of Iranian workers as always loyal to the Islamic Revolution and Republic, stressing  the need to look at the issue of promoting domestic production as a sacred topic and said consumption of foreign products should be considered as a move against values.

Turning to the run-off elections to be held for the Iranian parliament on Friday, the Leader said this round of elections is just as important as the first one.
