Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hussein Amir-Abdollahian and China's Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan on Tuesday supported efforts of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura to find a diplomatic solution.
The two sides also underlined stern campaign against terrorism in Syria.
Amir-Abdollahian said the dissident armed groups have close ties with ISIL and al-Nusra Front (Qaeda branch in the Levant) terrorist groups. He added that the Americans have also admitted that separation of terrorist groups from other armed groups is difficult.
He said the agreement reached in the meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) reveals that alongside diplomatic talks, campaign against terrorism will be on agenda. “However, we are witnessing that no serious action has been taken globally in campaign against terrorism.”
Xie Xiaoyan, who has newly been appointed Chinese government envoy to follow up Syria case, says his country’s stance is based on finding a political solution and adoption of the policy of patience and trusting outcome of the diplomatic dialogue.
He said the Syrian issue is very complicated and the Geneva talks should be allowed to bear fruits.
He added that no foreign power can interfere in the issue and the Syrian people should be allowed to decide for themselves.
