A car bomb targeting pilgrims killed at least 23 people near Baghdad on Saturday and injured many others.
The car bomb, which also wounded at least 38 people, struck a road in the Nahrawan area used by pilgrims who are walking to the shrine of Imam Musa Kadhim (as)n northern Baghdad for annual commemorations, officials said.
Takfiri group, ISIL, claimed the attack and said it was carried out by a suicide bomber who detonated a vehicle laden with three tons of explosives.
Imam Kadhim (as), the seventh of 12 imams revered in Shiite Islam, died in 799 AD.
