Prime Minister Najib Miqati said a partial solution was reached concerning the electricity project proposed by energy Minister Jebran Bassil.
In remarks published by Lebanese daily, as-Safir, Miqati said issues were not locked, “however we have reached a kind of solution, and hopefully we will reach a positive ending”.
As Miqati declined to say the kind of this solution, his close circles said it (solution) would be in the context of what he said yesterday after he received Bassil in the Grand Serail: “ We are striving for an electricity plan with the best technical conditions to achieve a final, positive solution with the appropriate funding”.
The daily also reported that Speaker Nabih Berri and Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil held several talks recently on the issue to prevent any political tension.
A government session is scheduled on Wednesday to discuss the electricity plan. The cabinet has so far failed to approve the project. The draft law calls for allocating $1.2 billion to the ministry to generate 700 Megawatts of electricity.
