Lebanese House Speaker and Amal movement leader, Nabih Berri, issued on Monday the following statement:
"In the wake of the third phase of [municipal] elections, we thank the people of the South, from end to end, on their loyalty to the path of development and resistance, and on scoring the highest election turnout, particularly in the Zahrani area and Maghdoushe which (...) has proved total belonging to its surrounding and utmost resilience and adherence to coexistence."
"We extend our congratulations to all southerners, in all their political diversity, on the democracy they proved with the least recorded trouble so far, and amid an atmosphere of ethical competition for the sake of public interest by building a local authority capable of serving the people, and rejecting all forms of political monopoly..." the statement read.
