Military sources said that the Iraqi troops advanced towards the eastern part of the city, adding that the air force contributed to the campaign.
The Iraqi authorities also announced readiness to receive the displaced civilians from Fallujah in safe areas, stressing that the neighboring towns are logistically prepared to provide them with all their needs.
The Iraqi forces have been confronting the terrorist group of ISIL for years, inflicting heavy losses upon its militants and liberating swathes of territories that it had occupied.
