He said that the relationship between Syria and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati was good, and stressed that contacts between both countries’ leaderships were present.
Concerning the situation in Syria, Ambassador Ali reiterated that the conspiracy against his country was not new. He said that Syria was used to confront the isolation schemes and to triumph them. He also pointed to the economic strength factors for Syria to highlight that sanctions could not influence the leadership.
Asked about the Russian position, Ali said that Moscow perceives that the majority of the Syrian people stand at the side of President Bashar Assad and the path of reform. He noted that Turkey, in contrast, needs to reconsider its ties with Syria.
