For the seventh day, Bahrainis have been voicing solidarity with leading Shia cleric, Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem, whose nationality was revoked by Al-Khalifa regime.
The sit-in near the house of Sheikh Qassem in Diraz, west of the capital Manama, continued on Monday, with protesters are calling on the Bahraini authorities to review the decision which they consider a crazy move.
Meanwhile, Diraz is till isolated by regime forces who are imposing high measures against all those who try to enter the area to take part in the sit-in.
Earlier on Sunday, regime forces arrested al-Wefa Shura Council member, Sheikh Mahdi al-Ekri, while he was entering Diraz.
Last week, Bahraini authorities stripped Sheikh Qassem of his citizenship, raising fears of more escalation against Shia in the Gulf Kingdom.
The latest measure came less than a week after the Bahraini Justice Ministry suspended all activities of al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the main opposition group in the country.
The kingdom also dissolved twoother opposition groups, namely al-Tawiya and al-Risala Islamic associations.
