Israeli forces "targeted two Syrian military targets in the central Golan Heights," an Israeli military spokeswoman told AFP.

The spokesman said the attack was "in response to errant fire yesterday from Syria that hit the border with Israel, damaging the security fence," referring to the Palestinian occupied territories.

The Zionist forces have repeatedly attacked several sites in Syria in the past few months.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged in April that Israeli forces had attacked dozens of convoys transporting weapons in Syria allegedly destined for its enemy Hezbollah.

Israel seized 1,200 square kilometers (460 square miles) of the Golan Heights from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized by the international community.
