Sheikh Qassem: Saudi Controls Presidential Elections in Lebanon

Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem considered that all the Lebanese parties aim to elect a new president in order to sustain the institutional processes which serve the national and public interests.

Sheikh Qassem added that the political considerations and desires must not hinder reaching a solution for the presidential vacancy, especially when the president represents a large segment of followers in his sect and abides by the constitutional items which guarantee the rights of all the parties.

His eminence pointed out that the Saudi intervention has prevented the Lebanese from carrying out their  presidential elections.

"If Saudi agrees on electing a new president, the Lebanese can carry out the elections tomorrow; if it rejects, the crisis is expected to be long," Sheikh Qassem stated.
