Public Transportations Unions and Syndicates said they will go on a strike on Thursday from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the National News Agency reported on Wednesday.
Head of the Lebanese land transport unions Bassam Tleis said in a press conference that all procedures have been carried out, adding that the relevant authorities have been informed of the details of the strike.
He also said that protests will continue to be held until the unions’ and syndicates’ demands are met.
Tleis also called for implementing the agreement made on May 18, 2011.
In May 18, caretaker Finance Minister Rayya al-Hassan said her ministry is ready to subsidize public drivers’ fuel expenses for the next three months, with a possibility of extension.
“Either our demands are met, or weekly strikes and protests [will be held] up until an open strike [begins,]” Tleis concluded.
