Israeli media reported the event saying there were no direct injuries from the gunfire.
"Suspicions of errant fire are being investigated" as part of a probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident, Haaretz reported citing initial assessment by Israeli occupation army.
"A bullet ricocheted off the dog tag of a soldier guarding the post that came under fire," Jerusalem Post reported, citing the army assessment.
"The origin of the fire at the outpost has yet to be identified," the occupation army said, adding that investigation was underway in order to know "whether the gunfire was deliberate or stray fire."
