MissileRocket fire launched by the Yemeni Army and popular committees struck a power station in southern Saudi Arabia Friday, emergency workers said.

The strike on the transformer in Najran which lies just across the Yemen border, marked a rare hit on Saudi Arabia's infrastructure in the context of months of periodic bombardment of the area.

The civil defense agency in Najran said it had responded to a rocket strike from Yemen on an electrical station, which caused no injuries, and that the blaze was extinguished.

Purported video of the incident circulating on social media showed heavy black smoke rising behind white storage tanks licked by orange flames.

This Yemeni achievement responded to intensified aerial campaign led by Saudi against the civilians in Yemen.

Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.

Riyadh launched the campaign against Ansarullah revolutionaries (known as Houthis) in a bid to restore power to fugitive ex-president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

Thousands have been martyred and injured in the aggression, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
