The internal Security Forces (ISF) Information Branch killed two men allegedly behind kidnapping of seven Estonians during an ambush in the area of al-Bireh in Rashaya at midnight.
According to the National News Agency, “An ISF unit ambushed a group of armed men in the town of Beery, West Bekaa at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.”
“The ISF installed metal barriers to block the road ahead of the arrival of the suspects’ vehicle,” the NNA said.
It added that the vehicle overturned and hit a wall, after which there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the police.
“The gunfire led to the killing of the two suspects while one ISF officer was injured and taken to the Bekaa Khoury Hospital.”
The report said that the bodies of the men were taken to the Baabda Hospital in order to confirm their identity.
