Egyptian army says will not field presidential candidate

A senior army officer said Thursday that Egypt's army will not field a candidate in a presidential election following the toppling of President Hosni Mubarak.

"There will be no presidential candidate from the military establishment in upcoming presidential elections," the senior officer was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying.
