Bahraini Women took to streets in the capital in protest of the brutal actions adopted by authorities against peaceful anti-government demonstrators.

The demonstration was held in Miqsha just outside Manama on Thursday after the regime sentenced a protester to death and others to long jail terms and as the authorities were still holding women protesters in detention.

Ahlam Al-Khezaei, the head of Women's Affairs for Al Wefaq, the biggest opposition party in Bahrain, called for the release of female prisoners.

"We ask for all women prisoners to be freed and for all charges against them to be dropped. These cruel sentences of our doctors, nurses and teachers, Rola al-Safar, Jalila al-Salman and Dr. Nadi Dhaif, and everyone else," she said, referring to some of the detainees.

On Thursday, a Bahraini court sentenced to death a protester and another to life in jail, claiming they have killed a policeman during a protest few months ago.

The court also sentenced 20 doctors to between five and fifteen years in prison, for treating protesters.
Earlier last week authorities detained dozens of women after they took to streets in protest of the by-election which were taking place on Saturday.

The Kingdom witnessed peaceful anti-government rallies since mid-February, demanding an end to the Al Khalifa's over-40-year-long rule over the Persian Gulf Island.

Scores of people have been killed and hundreds more arrested in a brutal Manama-ordered and Riyadh-backed crackdown in the country.
