Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Thursday that people play a key role in protecting the country from conspiracies.

“People’s vigilance is a must for saving a nation from conspiracies and defending its identity and dignity,” said Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with families of provincial war-time martyrs as well as war veterans and disabled.

The Supreme Leader arrived in this western province Wednesday on 10-day visit.

“Iran’s establishment is an Islamic Republic which is tantamount to an Islamic democracy,” said the Supreme Leader, stressing that real involvement of people in all affairs was a must for the existence of such an establishment.

Given the current complicating developments, Ayatollah Khamenei urged that further vigilance of people and their sense of responsibility were necessary to confront present worsening situation.
