Iranian President indirectly responds to US accusations, says Washington seeks to impede Iran’s progress
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blasted new US publicity stunt against the Islamic Republic, and argued that cultured nations such as Iran never need to resort to terror.
"Terror is your trait," insisted the president, indirectly addressing US statesmen Sunday morning. "The cultured people of Iran have no use for terror," he stressed.
The remarks of the Iranian president came at the second session of the fifth term of Iran's student parliament in Tehran, where he also hinted that the US makes daily efforts to conceive scenarios against Iran. "In this instance they accused Iran of terrorism, but it should be clarified for them that terror is the work of those that have no culture," he highlighted.
The Iranian President then emphasized that the key objective behind all these pressures against the country is to impede the progress of the Iranian nation and to ensure that it does not become intellectually and culturally powerful.
In its latest measures against Iran, the US on Tuesday accused Tehran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir.
Referring to the recent anti-Iran scenario created by the US, Ahmadinejad said that, unlike the American officials, the Iranian nation does not need to resort to assassinations.
Iran has categorically denied the accusation, saying the recent US plot allegation is a “ludicrous” claim based on the joint US-Israel posture against the Islamic Republic.
On Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US administration is responsible for escalating tension and undermining international security through its propaganda campaign against Iran.
Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has also called on Riyadh to exercise caution with respect to the US plot since “the enemy always seeks to sow discord among regional countries.”
