STL to hold hearing next month in order to decide whether to try in absentia the four accused in the case
The tribunal probing the assassination of former Lebanese premier Rafiq Hariri is to hold a hearing next month in order to decide whether to try in absentia the four accused in the case.
"The trial chamber ... schedules a hearing for Friday 11 November 2011, at 10:00" on the matter, the court said on Thursday.
The two sides have until November 2 to file their written briefs in the case, it added.
On Monday, the pre-trial judge asked the trial chamber to determine whether proceedings in absentia should be initiated in the case.
The tribunal few months ago had accused members of Hezbollah for being responsible for the murder.
The party firmly denied the claim, stressing that the accusation aimed at crashing the resistance, the unreachable goal of July war 2006.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had said before that the hand that would target any of the resistance Mujahedeen would be cut off.
