A Lebanese delegation headed to Libya on Sunday to meet National Transitional Council there, in a bid to uncover the fate of Imam Sayyed Moussa As-Sadr.
As he said they didn’t have any information concerning the fate of Imam Sadr, Foreign Minister Adnan Mnasour told al-Manar Channel that the High National Committee for the follow-up of Imam Sadr‘s Case has chosen a delegation that would head to Libya on Sunday.
“The delegation will head to Tunisia tomorrow and then to Libya”, Mansour said late on Saturday following the committee meeting.
The committee stressed on the NTC’s responsibility in unveiling the fate of Imam Sadr, noting that this case “is a national per excellence”.
The delegation comprises the General Director of Emigrant Affairs Haytham Jomaa and Judge Hassan Shami.
Imam Sadr, along with his two companions: Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine, departed for Libya in August 1978, to meet with government officials. The three were never heard from again. It is widely believed that the Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi, killed on Thursday, ordered Imam Sadr’s abduction.
