Russia has supplied Iran with electronic jamming equipment as part of the military-technical cooperation between the two countries, a Russian official told a local news agency.
Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Konstantin Birulin, said that this material did not fall within the list of weapons banned by a UN resolution punishing Tehran for its disputed nuclear program.
"We have never stopped our negotiations with Iran on the purchase of military equipment that has nothing to do with the UN sanctions. In this particular case, the negotiations are for electronic jamming equipment," Birulin said.
