As he reiterated his call to resume national dialogue, Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri said he would not accept talks with conditions.
Instability in the Middle East “requires all Lebanese to [engage] in dialogue under the sponsorship of President Michel Sleiman”, Berri said in an interview with An-Nahar newspaper published on Friday.
However he added: “There will be no dialogue with conditions… and no subject that [is important] for the Lebanese people should be considered a taboo”.
According to the daily, Berri would ask Sleiman to “intervene and exert more effort” to successfully resume dialogue.
In another interview with Al-Jumhuriya newspaper published on Friday, Berri said that Future bloc leader Fouad Siniora “did not reject” the calls to resume dialogue during their meeting on Thursday.
“I asked Siniora to take his time to respond and to discuss the issue with his party [before] informing [us] of his position [regarding dialogue],” the daily quoted Berri as saying.
