Syria Will not Participate in Wednesday Meetings in Morocco

Syria will not participate in the Arab League council and the Arab-Turkish cooperation meeting that will be held in Morocco Wednesday.

Syria will not participate in the Arab League council and the Arab-Turkish cooperation meeting that will be held in Morocco Wednesday.

Syrian official news agency SANA quoted an official source in the Syrian Foreign Ministry as saying that “after the issuance of the Arab League decision to suspend Syria's membership in the League on November 12, some brotherly Arab countries worked on suggesting solutions to restore the credibility and legitimacy to the AL work method and role, as they stressed the extreme importance for Syria to attend the mentioned meetings.”

"Therefore, Syria had decided to participate in those two meetings in response to the desire of these Arab countries and out of its belief in the consolidation of the joint Arab action away from reactions and despite its knowledge of the pressures targeted against it," the source added.

It further explained: "In light of the statements issued by Moroccan officials, that we were officially informed of, Syria decided not to participate in those two meetings,” concluding that Syria, who’s permanent concern was to protect the present and future of the Arab nation, will continue playing its pan-Arab role in spite of all the attempts aimed at undermining the joint Arab action."
