Iranian FM: Arab League Rushed into Suspending Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday evening that the Arab League rushed into suspending Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday evening that the Arab League rushed into suspending Syria, Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported.

Salehi warned that the League’s decision will harm the region’s security, adding that the League should have worked to settle the situation in Syria “in a manner that does not [harm] regional stability and peace.”

He also said that some parties aim to cause tensions in the region.

“Some countries think that they are [distant] from [Syria’s] crisis, but they are wrong because the crisis’ repercussions, if they happen, will harm everyone.”

The Arab League suspended Syria’s membership in the organization until Syrian President Bashar al-Assad implements an Arab deal, and called for sanctions and transition talks with the opposition.
