Our Great Martyrs... Hallmark of Victory: Salah Ghandour

Our Great Martyrs... Hallmark of Victory: Salah Ghandour

"I took a vow not to face Allah and my Master Imam Hussein (as) unless my body was torn into pieces"

His Will:

My brothers, I took a vow not to face Allah and my Master Imam Hussein (as) unless my body was torn into pieces, headless and armless, so that I would be Allah’s honest and faithful slave, and so that He confirms my faith to Imam Hussein, and the friends of Imam Hussein who sacrificed themselves defending him.

Peace be upon you my dear father,
Dear father: … and you remember Master of the Martyrs Imam Hussein. How his head was cut off while he was with his family… how great of a calamity is that.

My Compassionate mother: O you patient one! My dear friend, you have suffered a lot with us, and you were a great mother and friend. You are the patient, loyal one. How often have I discussed with you the calamity of Imam Hussein (as) and Sayyeda Zainab (as), about her patience, and how strong her stance was in front of Yazeed. She has been the role model for all women for centuries. So, I ask you to be patient and be with Sayyeda Al-Zahraa (as) during the Day of Judgment.

...

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, most Merciful
My Lord, I have left all creatures for the sake of your love
I have orphaned my children to see You
If the price of my love to You was to be cut into pieces
My heart shall always be devoted to You
As after a while, I will drink from a glass of which I shall not be thirsty ever after. I am certain of that. After a while I will meet the Prince of Believers (as) and all the virtuous and martyred Imams. Peace be upon you, Allah’s mercy and blessings.

...

The verses he read before starting the operation:

I seek refuge with Allah from the cursed Satan.
In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, most Merciful.
“Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to triumph) over them, heal the breasts of Believers* And still the indignation of their hearts. For Allah will turn (in mercy) to whom He will; and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise*Or think ye that ye shall be abandoned, as though Allah did not know those among you who strive with might and main, and take none for friends and protectors except Allah, His Messenger, and the (community of) Believers? But Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.” (At-Tawba: 14-15-16) Allah the Almighty has spoken the truth.

Martyr Malak then performed the ritual ablution, performed two prostrations, and took off for the operation.

Biography

Salah Al-Din Mohammad Ghandour was born on the 17th of May, 1968 in the Southern village of Kfar Melki where he lived in for five years, then moved with his family to the United Arab Emirates.

Salah’s father used to work in the UAE, so he lived there during his youth and completed his elementary and intermediate education there.

He was an educated, rational, and faithful child, and this was the result of his love for research and reading.

At the beginning of 1983, his family returned to Lebanon which was then occupied by the Zionists, and since that time, Salah started following up religious and educational courses and attending the mosque regularly.

Only one year after returning to Lebanon, Salah joined the Islamic Resistance, Hezbollah.

The leadership asked Salah to relocate to Beirut, where he met his life-partner and lived with her and his family in one house.

During that period, many of Salah’s friends in the Islamic Resistance were martyred, but when his closest friend Ghassan Alawiyeh was martyred in 1987, he was deeply affected. Due to that, he decided to move from Beirut and reside in the southern town of Bint Jbeil.

After two months of working in the South, Salah joined the operational work and became a Hezbollah fighter.

He was courageous, persistent, well-qualified in his military work.

As for his spirituality, many of those who knew Salah said he was very devoted and virtuous, similar to being a close servant for Allah.

He was committed to his religious obligations. He performed prayers and supererogatory performances, recited the Quran and the supplications with meditation and crave, and had special concern for preserving good manners.

In the Battlefield:

After assisting many of the resistance fighters in preparing for their self-sacrifice operations, his turn came.

Salah bid-farewell to his family on the 15th of April, 1995, and took off in a booby-trapped car, and penetrated two Israeli convoys, at the entrance of Bint Jbeil, that were preparing to exchange locations.

He detonated his body in the occupation convoys, killing and injuring dozens of them.
