Multiple explosions rocked the southern port Iraqi city of Basra, killing at least 20 people on Thursday.

A roadside bomb and a motorcycle bomb detonated simultaneously at about 6:40 p.m. local time (1540 GMT) in a market in the city center interior ministry official said.

A third roadside bomb exploded as people gathered at the scene of the earlier attacks, according to the official, who said some 70 people were wounded in the bombings.

Iraqi security forces arrived at the scene of the explosions and cordoned off the market.
