UN was "hasty" in condemning Iran at a time Tehran expressed regret at some protesters reactions
Iranian Foreign Ministry regretted some “unacceptable actions” by a number of protesters despite the efforts of Iranian security forces to stop them during Iranian students’ demonstration in front of Britain's embassy in Tehran.
According to the statement, relevant officials have been asked to immediately conduct necessary investigations with regards to this issue.
Stressing the Islamic Republic's respect for international law and the immunity of diplomatic buildings, Iran's Foreign Ministry also reiterated the Iranian government's commitment to protect the diplomatic missions.
Deputy Commander of the Iranian police Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan personally visited the British embassy compound following the unrest. Radan in an ultimatum warned the remaining protesters to immediately leave the premises.
On Tuesday, hundreds of Iranian students from different universities entered the compound of the British embassy in Tehran and pulled down Britain's flag. However, police prevented them from entering the embassy itself.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani accused the UN Security Council of being "hasty" in condemning Iran for the storming of Britain's embassy, state television reported.
He argued in parliament that Britain was to blame for the high emotions underpinning this scene.
"The hasty move at the Security Council in condemning the student movement, aims to cover up the past crimes of Britain and America, and this, despite the fact that police had tried to maintain calm," he was quoted as saying.
"This anger is an outcome of decades of domineering moves by the British in Iran," he said.
He said parliament was calling for calm -- but that it believed Britain and the United States were "seeking to exploit" the embassy storming.
The UN on Tuesday issued a statement condemning "in the strongest terms" the attacks on the British compounds. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also issued a statement Wednesday saying he was "shocked and outraged" at the attack on the British embassy in Tehran and urging Iranian authorities to prevent any repetition.
